JFK was founded in 1950 in the village of Saanen, Switzerland, three kilometres from the world-famous resort of Gstaad. Features include small classes, a family-like atmosphere and well-balanced programmes emphasizing strong academic skills and good study habits. The curriculum has been especially designed for international schools and is based on a clear philosophy of international education in a time of rapid global change and endeavours to foster a ‘global viewpoint’. The programme also reflects recent developments in our understanding of how the brain works and how children learn. In addition, a conscious effort is made to take the learning process beyond the classroom through field trips, cultural activities and sports, including daily skiing in winter. Since 1973 the school has offered an outstanding summer camp for children 6 to 14.
